Illinois has $3.3 billion of ‘unused’ dollars in Illinois’ road fund and Gov. J.B. Pritzker raised gasoline taxes anyway.
It’s true, Illinois has over $3.3 billion in road funds that are sitting idle, not being spent to repair your streets, yet the state continues to hoard your tax dollars.
In July 2019, Governor JB Pritzker and Illinois Democrats doubled the gasoline tax in Illinois. Each year, thereafter, taxes have increased automatically on July 1st.
Illinois now ranks #2 in the nation for gas taxes.
In 2019 Illinois motorists paid $.19 per gallon in gasoline tax, as of July 1, 2025 Illinoians is now pay 48.3 cents per gallon. 
Analysis provided by the Illinois Policy Institute found:
“ From 2018 to 2024, state road spending increased nearly $1 billion, but because of constant tax and fee hikes, revenues have surged even faster and grown nearly 95% in the same period. In 2024 alone, the state’s road fund collected over $5 billion while spending under $4 billion.”
Sadly. The governor and Chicago’s mayor have gone out of their way to insist that people resist the lawful pursuit of enforcement of our immigration laws. This is on the governor and the mayor.
Franklin Park Mayor Barrett Pedersen
Hours after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents fatally shot a man in Franklin Park, U.S. Rep. Jesus “Chuy” Garcia along with Franklin Park Mayor Barrett Pedersen, called for a full investigation at a news conference held in tandem with local officials and immigrant rights leaders.
Details have been sketchy, but yesterday morning in Franklin Park on Grand Avenue near Hawthorne an illegal attempted to run over an ICE agent with his car.
ICE agent was dragged by the illegal’s car.
ICE fired and struck the illegal.
An ICE officer was severely injured in Chicago this morning after being being hit & dragged by an illegal alien who resisted arrest during targeted traffic stop & tried to run over the ICE arrest team with his vehicle. ICE shot and killed the alien as a result.
It was told by a senior ICE source that the officer suffered lacerations and significant leg injuries but is expected to be okay.
ICE statement on who they were targeting:
“ICE officers conducted a vehicle stop to arrest Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez. He refused to follow law enforcements commands and drove his car at law enforcement officers. One of the ICE officers was hit by the car and dragged a significant distance. Fearing for his own life, the officer fired his weapon.
The target of the enforcement operation was Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez, a criminal illegal alien with a history of reckless driving. He entered the country at an unknown date and time.”
According to family members who identified themselves as Silverio Villegas Gonzalez’ girlfriend and stepdaughter, Gonzalez was stopped in his car by ICE in Franklin Park this morning after dropping his two children, 6 and 3, off at school. Gonzalez fled in his vehicle and crashed into a truck on Grand Ave. Unclear at this point when the ICE shots were fired.

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a man in Franklin Park, Illinois Friday morning after authorities say he attempted to drive into agents.
A Department of Homeland Security official first told CBS News the agent was trying to make an arrest, which the man resisted and tried to drive his vehicle into agents. The agent then opened fire.
ICE officials confirmed the fatal shooting, saying the incident began with “targeted law enforcement activity.”
ICE said both the agent and the suspect were taken to a local hospital for treatment, where the man died. ICE said the agent was dragged and suffered “severe injuries.” The agent is being treated at a local hospital where his condition has stabilized, ICE said.

A man fatally shot by federal immigration agents on Friday in suburban Franklin Park has been identified.
Silverio Villegas-Gonzalez was shot by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer after he allegedly attempted to flee a traffic stop and struck an officer with his car.
ICE agents were conducting “targeted law enforcement activity” in Franklin Park when they stopped the vehicle, according to a statement from the agency.
During the stop, Villegas-Gonzalez allegedly resisted arrest and attempted to drive his car into officers, dragging one officer, ICE officials said. Social media videos and eyewitnesses have only confirmed the aftermath of the incident. The Chicago Sun-Times and WBEZ have not independently verified ICE’s account of the traffic stop.
The officer opened fire and shot Villegas-Gonzalez, according to ICE. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Villegas-Gonzalez was identified by the Cook County medical examiner’s office Saturday afternoon. An autopsy declared his death was by homicide.
The Department of Homeland Security said Saturday the injured ICE officer was released from the hospital.
The Mexican consulate said Villegas-Gonzalez was from Michoacán, Mexico, and worked as a cook. Its officials contacted his family and were requesting more information from ICE about the circumstances of the shooting.
ADVERTISEMENTVillegas-Gonzalez’s girlfriend, Blanca Mora, told CBS News she believes ICE is lying about the incident and that she just wants the truth to come out.
U.S. Rep. Delia Ramirez said at a news conference outside ICE’s processing facility in Broadview on Saturday morning that Villegas-Gonzalez had dropped off his child at school minutes before he was shot.
Ramirez said she and other elected officials will demand an investigation into the shooting.
“It is important for people to understand that, yes, we are living in times that perhaps feel unprecedented, but we have seen these attacks before. We will rise from these attacks,” Ramirez said.

Miller states:

His dangerous rhetoric and multiple statements inciting violence will not be tolerated which is why I filed articles of impeachment against him- I’ll keep you informed as we learn more about the proceedings!”

-vehicle Milage tax (with tracking devices) -$1.50 delivery/Package(Amazon tax) -Services Tax (haircuts, car repairs, doctors visits, etc) -Illinois ‘exit’ tax -$1.00 per day tollway tax
“If You can Dream it, Illinois can tax it”
All these taxes were discussed in spring and some were also promoted by Governor Pritzker (D) and Illinois Democrats, zero Republicans supported any these taxes.
A majority of these taxes would be paid for by the ‘entire’ state of Illinois to fund the City of Chicago.
Illinois Delivery Tax Update
The Illinois $1.50 delivery tax is back…. to bail out Chicago! The entire state would have to pay this tax….except Chicago!

This fall, Illinois Democrats may re-consider the tax that would add on a $1.50 charge on every delivery that comes to your home or business, however the legislation includes a huge loophole that benefits Chicago!
Targeted taxation: The tax doesn’t even apply evenly. State Senator Andrew Chesney, who opposed the tax, warns that deliveries made by bicycle are exempt, which just so happens to benefit many areas of Chicago where bike delivery is common. So, while city residents find a convenient loophole, rural and suburban families are left paying the bill.
Background: The Pritzker/Democrat sponsored delivery tax would apply to the entire state of Illinois to bail out the City of Chicago – many areas of the city would ‘not’ have to pay the tax.
The $1.50 Delivery Tax, or what many have called the “Amazon Tax,” would tax nearly every package or food order delivered to your door. Groceries and medicine are supposed to be exempt, however, if your delivery order included a rotisserie chicken, roll of toilet paper, toothpaste, diapers , etc you would pay the tax. Door Dash, Uber eats, Amazon packages, UPS deliveries will all be taxed!
The delivery tax bill remains alive in the Illinois state legislature, and may come back for a vote in the fall veto session.
Transparency: The sponsors of the delivery tax are all Democrats. The tax was approved by The Illinois Senate back in late May with votes only from Democrats, locally, including Rockford Democrat Steve Stadelman

Transit taxes are expected to be discussed in Springfield during the fall veto session. It is scheduled to take place from October 14 through 30th.
This tax would a daily tax for individuals who use the tollway system – The money would go to pay for Chicago transit.
The 2025 transit reform bill (HB3438): Illinois lawmakers proposed a 50-cent tollway surcharge to help fund Chicago-area public transit by bailing out a projected fiscal cliff.
The bill remains under consideration in Springfield is sponsored by only by Illinois Democrats.

The Sun-Times reports that Chicago Democrat State Rep. Kam Buckner, D-Chicago, has suggested a new “large event surcharge” tax.
The ‘new tax’ to be paid all throughout Illinois that would add anywhere from $1 to $3 to the price of tickets to major concerts and sporting events.
The intent would be to bail out Chicago’s mass transit system.

Gov. JB Pritzker was asked on Thursday in Southern Illinois about the people pushing counties to vote on seceding from Illinois and forming their own state or joining another.

“I think partisans and people who don’t support the fact that this is mostly a Democratic state are looking for any way to get attention, and so they talk about and push the idea that somehow counties in Illinois are going to leave, get up and join another state. That’s not going to happen. That’s not how it works. ……if you want to leave, then get up and move.”
Illinois mileage tax update: The Democrat proposal to tax you based on how many miles you drive in Illinois will ‘not’ eliminate Illinois’ high motor fuel tax.

As previously reported earlier this summer, a Democrat sponsored Senate Bill (SB1938), will create a “road usage charge”….a statewide pilot program to assess user fees for the number of miles traveled on public roadways. SB 1938 remains under consideration in Springfield – a vote has not been taken yet.
Proponents of a new mileage tax have argued that the tax would eliminate Illinois motor fuel tax you pay on every gallon of gas. – it won’t!
According to the Sun-Times:
“In Illinois, the charge likely wouldn’t raise enough revenue to allow eliminating the motor fuel tax.”
Result: Motorists will still end up paying “both” taxes. – The mileage tax and the motor fuel tax.
In order to track mileage, a self reporting or tracking system (transponder) would be installed in your vehicle to determine the miles you traveled to assess taxes on every motorist.
