The Democrat sponsored proposal would institute a ‘new milage tax’ that would force motorists to pay additional taxes for each mile driven.
Background: The proposal would also require Illinois motorists to put tracking devices on their vehicles to report mileage to state officials, or submit to regular reporting of their mileage to Illinois officials on a regular basis.

The bill was aimed to deal with declining gas tax revenue due to increasing fuel efficiency and the rise of electric vehicles
The good news: the bill (senate Bill 1938) did not pass in the spring legislative session in Springfield.
The bad news: the bill is not dead, it’s been referred to “assignments” and could come back. The bill has not been withdrawn.

The program would have studied the feasibility of collecting road usage data and payments from voluntary participants.
However, pilot programs, such as this often turn permanent. 
In illinois, this could eventually lead to much higher taxes, and of course, having your vehicle location tracked by state officials.
The newly released CIA document confirming the fraudulent nature of the Intelligence Community Assessment notes that on December 9, 2016, the Washington Post claimed to know the outcome of the assessment before the work had even begun. But that’s only half the story.
Around noon that day, the Washington Post published a routine article announcing that the Intelligence Community Assessment was just getting underway. A few hours later, without notice, they quietly edited not just the headline but the entire article, including the bylines. Suddenly, the revised piece asserted as fact that Vladimir Putin had orchestrated Trump’s election.
It is almost certain that corrupt intelligence officials were dissatisfied with the original reporting which wasn’t tailored to the narrative. They needed to preemptively sabotage Trump’s presidency, so they told the Washington Post to publish a version that reflected the Intelligence Community’s preferred narrative.
To this day, no one has been held accountable for this fraud—neither at the Washington Post, which later won Pulitzers for their lies, nor within the Intelligence Community, which orchestrated the deception.
You can see both versions of the article below. These are not two separate pieces—one is the original, and the other was inserted a few hours later using the exact same URL. They replaced the story entirely without acknowledging the change.

You can’t speak honestly about the Fourth of July without honoring those who have defended it, our men and women in uniform.
From the ragtag Continental Army that stood up to the most powerful empire in the
world, to the modern warrior defending freedom in every corner of the globe, the American military has always been the shield that protects the promise of July 4th. Every flag waving proudly today does so because someone stood ready to defend it.
Those who wear the uniform have bought and safeguarded every right we enjoy, free speech, faith, voting, and living as we choose.

Military families know this truth deeply. They endure long deployments, shoulder the burden of war, and return to their homes forever changed. And they do it out of love for country,

Their sacrifices aren’t just for Memorial Day or Veterans Day. It’s woven into the meaning of Independence Day. Every firework is a tribute not just to our birth, but to our survival.
This isn’t about politics. This is about patriotism.
It’s about gratitude for the past, the present, and the defenders of our future.
Stand for something greater so this Independence Day, remember that our freedom was won through valor… and
preserved through vigilance.
Let’s teach our children that the American flag stands for more than a holiday. It stands for sacrifice, unity, and an enduring dream worth defending.

The US Supreme Court finally weighed in and it could change history.
In a monumental win for Trump, SCOTUS just shut down activist judges blocking his agenda.
It was a defining moment for the Trump presidency.
For years, President Trump’s efforts to deliver on his campaign promises had been repeatedly blocked by activist judges, often from liberal districts, issuing sweeping nationwide injunctions that stalled policies voters had supported at the ballot box.
That pattern hit a wall today.
In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court ruled that Trump’s executive order restricting birthright citizenship can move forward in parts of the country, striking at the core of judges’ power to block presidential policies nationwide.
Justice Amy Coney Barrett, writing for the Court’s six Republican-appointed justices, made clear why the ruling mattered:
“These injunctions—known as ‘universal injunctions’—likely exceed the equitable authority that Congress has granted to federal courts.”
It was a significant legal win for Trump, delivering a long-awaited check on what his allies have described as a rogue judiciary determined to stymie his agenda.
As the decision hit the wires, CNN scrambled to break it down for viewers. Their senior legal analyst, Elie Honig, tried to summarize the ruling’s impact in real time.
“It looks like at first glimpse, and we’re just starting, it looks like the court has put some limits on the ability of district courts, trial courts, to issue those kind of rulings,” Honig said.
He continued, “It looks like the court has said district courts only have the power to do that in certain, very narrow circumstances.”
“So we’re going to go through this and get the details soon, but that’s the gist.”
It might be the most consequential Supreme Court ruling of Trump’s second term, clearing the path for his voter-backed agenda to move forward without repeated blocks from activist judges.
In his address, Trump unleashed on the significance of the moment:
“This morning the Supreme Court has delivered a monumental victory for the Constitution, the separation of powers, and the rule of law.”
He explained the stakes as he saw them:
“In striking down the excessive use of nationwide injunctions to interfere with the normal functioning of the executive branch, the Supreme Court has stopped the presidency itself.”
Reflecting on the public reaction, he said, “Really it’s been an amazing period of time this last hour.”
“There are people elated all over the country. I’ve seen such happiness in spirit. Sometimes you don’t see that. But this case is very important.”
He also made clear why he believed this fight mattered so much to voters:
“I was elected on a historic mandate, but in recent months we’ve seen a handful of radical left judges effectively try to overrule the rightful powers of the president to stop the American people from getting the policies that they’ve voted for in record numbers.”
Calling it a threat to the system itself, he reiterated: “It was a grave threat to democracy, frankly, and instead of merely ruling on the immediate cases before them, these judges have attempted to dictate the law for the entire nation.”
The president then offered a clear signal about what this ruling really means for his agenda.
He explained that the Supreme Court’s decision to rein in rogue injunctions effectively opens the door to ending birthright citizenship and pushing forward his full slate of policies.
For Trump, it marked what he called a truly historic moment in his presidency—more than just a legal win, it was a green light to deliver on some of his biggest campaign promises.
Laying out what’s next, he told the country:
“Thanks for this decision and thanks to this decision we can now promptly file to proceed with numerous policies that have been wrongly enjoined on a nationwide basis.”
He was direct about one of the most controversial priorities:
“Some of the cases we’re talking about would be ending birthright citizenship which now comes to the fore.”
Trump made his argument for why he believed that policy change is justified:
“That was meant for the babies of slaves, not meant for people trying to scam the system and come into the country on vacation.”
“This was the same date, the exact same date the end of the Civil War—it was meant for the babies of slaves, that is so clean and obvious.”
“This lets us go there and finally win that case because hundreds of thousands of people are pouring into our country under birthright citizenship and it wasn’t meant for that reason.”
“It was meant for the babies of slaves.”
He didn’t stop there, listing other stalled policies he said could now move forward:
“So thanks to this decision we can now promptly file to proceed with these numerous policies and those that have been wrongly enjoined on a nationwide basis including birthright citizenship.”
“Ending sanctuary city funding.”
“Suspending refugee resettlement.”
“Freezing unnecessary funding.”
“Stopping federal taxpayers from paying for transgender surgeries, and numerous other priorities of the American people.”
That’s when Attorney General Pam Bondi took the stage to drive the message home.
She went scorched earth as she reacted to the Supreme Court’s historic decision.
“Judges have tried to seize the executive branch’s power. NO longer.”
As the nation’s top law enforcement officer, Bondi delivered what was essentially a scorched-earth response to the Court’s ruling that shut down the use of nationwide injunctions by lower-court judges.
“Americans are finally getting what they voted for.”
She issued a blunt warning to the judiciary:
“Two words to the judges: no longer.”
She spelled out exactly what that means moving forward:
“No longer will we have rogue judges striking down President Trump’s policies across the entire nation. No longer.”
Bondi pointed to the Supreme Court’s clear finding in the 6–3 opinion:
“Today in the 6-3 opinion, Barrett correctly holds that the district court lacks authority to enter nationwide or universal injunctions.”
She highlighted how sweeping these injunctions had become:
“These lawless injunctions gave relief to everyone in the world instead of the parties before the court.”
She continued, “As the Supreme Court held today, they turned district courts into the imperial judiciary. Activist liberal judges have used these injunctions to block virtually ALL of President Trump’s policies.”
Detailing just how concentrated the problem was, she explained, “94 districts and 35 out of the 40 opinions with nationwide injunctions came from five liberal districts in this country. No longer.”
Bondi closed with a final, emphatic line:
“These injunctions have blocked our policies from tariffs to military readiness to immigration to foreign affairs, fraud, abuse and many other issues.”
And her last words left no doubt about the administration’s stance:
“The judges have tried to seize the executive branch’s power and they cannot do that. No longer.”
Just as the media was trying to keep up with the uproar over the Supreme Court limiting activist judges, the Court delivered another headline-grabbing decision.
It was a shot across the bow against the woke era.
In a second 6–3 ruling, the Supreme Court sided with a group of parents in Montgomery County, Maryland, who want the right to opt their children out of classroom lessons that include books with LGBTQ themes.
It was another HUGE win for religious rights advocates, who have often found a sympathetic ear in the Court’s conservative majority.
Justice Samuel Alito, writing for the six Republican-appointed justices, explained the Court’s reasoning:
“These parents have earned at least a preliminary injunction.”
He added, “In the absence of an injunction, the parents will continue to be put to a choice: either risk their child’s exposure to burdensome instruction, or pay substantial sums for alternative educational services. As we have explained, that choice unconstitutionally burdens the parents’ religious exercise,”
More taxes! Residents of Illinois could soon be charged a “commuter transportation mobility tax“ to pay for Chicago’s public transportation system.
As the city of Chicago looks to capture an additional $1.5 billion in revenue for their public transit system, a new statewide tax is being considered by Democrats.
[Q: are you willing to pay this new tax to fund the Chicago transportation system?]
After the $1.50 per delivery (Amazon/doordash) delivery tax did not make it through the Illinois House of Representatives in time to become Law this past May, Chicago politicians are looking for more ways to tax Illinois residents to fund Chicago’s mismanaged public transportation system.
(Note: The $1.50 per delivery tax, unfortunately is not dead, Springfield democrat politicians plan to bring this back up for consideration in the summer and fall, so you still could be paying that $1.50 per delivery charge pushed by Pritzker and Illinois Democrats)
The new commuter transportation mobility tax is charged to certain employers and self-employed individuals engaging in business in the state of Illinois.
This would not only affect established employers, but also those who are self-employed, gig workers, etc.… 
The RTA board met earlier this month to discuss funding scenarios. Currently Chicago public transportation is $771 billion in the hole, but they’re looking to increase taxes by $1.5 billion total.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum addresses Trump:
“So, you voted to build a wall.
Well, dear Americans, even if you don’t understand much about geography, since for you America is your country and not a continent, it is important for you to know, before the first brick is laid, that there are 7 billion people beyond that wall.
But since you don’t really know the term “people,” we will call them “consumers.” There are 7 billion consumers ready to replace their iPhones with Samsung or Huawei devices in less than 42 hours.
They can also replace Levi’s with Zara or Massimo Duti.
In less than six months, we can easily stop buying Ford or Chevrolet cars and replace them with Toyota, KIA, Mazda, Honda, Hyundai, Volvo, Subaru, Renault or BMW, which are technically better than the cars they produce. These 7 billion people can also stop subscribing to Direct TV, and we don’t want to do that, but we can stop watching Hollywood movies and start watching more Latin American or European productions that have better quality, message, cinematic techniques and content.
Although it may sound incredible, we can skip Disney and go to the Xcaret resort in Cancun, Mexico, Canada or Europe: there are other great destinations in South America, East America and Europe.
And even if you don’t believe it, even in Mexico there are better hamburgers than McDonald’s and they have better nutritional content.
Has anyone seen pyramids in the United States? In Egypt, Mexico, Peru, Guatemala, Sudan and other countries there are pyramids with incredible civilizations.
Find out where to find the wonders of the ancient and modern world. None of them in the US. Shame on Trump, he would have bought them and sold them!

New Illinois mileage tax! You may soon pay as much as 30 cents a mile tax based on how many miles you drive in Illinois, if Illinois Democrats and JB Pritzker (D) get their way.
It’s called the “Road Usage charge act”. Illinois Senate bill 1938 calls for the following:
”mileage-based revenue”
The new law would assess a user fee on owners of motor vehicles starting on January 1, 2026 according to language in the proposed legislation: 
“ …..assess a user fee on owners of motor vehicles that is based on the number of miles traveled on public roadways in this State by those vehicles. “
In order to make this happen, the state of Illinois would require tracking devices on your vehicle to determine the mileage or check your odometer on a periodic basis to see how many miles you’ve traveled in a given period of time
Q: are you OK with the state of Illinois tracking your location 24/7?
Democrats in Springfield say this new tax would eventually eliminate the gasoline tax, but that is unlikely because local municipalities and other taxing bodies utilize gasoline sales to generate local sales tax, along with additional per gallon taxes on top of the sales tax.
Friday Firestorm: Blood on the Pavement, Flags from a Window, and a Mayor in Denial
Friday began with armed criminals harming innocent people going to work in the morning in an accident that twisted metal and pinned a passenger. At 31st and Lowe, a stolen Hyundai blew a stop sign and slammed into a Honda and an Infiniti.
The driver fled on foot, leaving his own passenger—a John Doe—trapped inside the wreck. Two guns were recovered from the crashed vehicle. The driver was taken into custody and transported to Insight Hospital, then hauled off to the 9th District lockup.
The female Honda driver, who had been knocked unconscious by her airbag, was taken to Stroger Hospital and later listed in good condition. The male passenger of the Hyundai underwent emergency surgery and remains in critical condition in Stroger’s ICU.
Just after 3 p.m., Mayor Brandon Johnson vetoed a city ordinance to allow emergency curfews—the first veto by a Chicago mayor since 2006.
His reason? He says crime is going down.
The same day, a man was dragged under a train, a woman was stabbed, and shootings erupted across every side of the city—including one downtown during the dinner rush, right outside Lou Malnati’s, considered one of the oldest and most well-known names in Chicago pizza, and a popular spot for tourists in River North.
CTA chaos continued to mirror the street-level collapse.
A man was found underneath the Pink Line at Cicero and Cermak after being struck and pinned beneath the train. It took emergency crews over 30 minutes to extract him from under the lead car.
Elsewhere at State and Lake, another overdose victim collapsed unconscious on the Red Line platform.
On the Blue Line, at Addison, another man that was doing drugs was thrown out of the a train by disgusted passengers and later found disoriented, stumbling across the platform.
Over in the West Side neighborhoods, the breakdown of basic family structures spilled out into police calls.
At 5049 West Potomac, a man told officers that his parents were trying to kill him. A few miles away at 630 North Avers, a woman used a kitchen knife to defend herself from her violent 21-year-old son.
In another report a woman was seen beating up a man in a wheelchair near 57th and State. Police were on the scene but no arrests were made.
The spiral of guns and open lawlessness continued through the evening.
A group of white males with rifles—one of them wearing jeans and sandals—were spotted brandishing weapons near 74th and Wolcott. There are videos. No arrests.
On South Indiana, a woman stabbed her brother-in-law in the back. He was left immobile until emergency crews arrived.
At 79th Street Red Line station, people were openly selling drugs and drinking inside the terminal. And in the underground connector tunnel between the Blue and Red Lines, a woman was punched in the face while several men were seen walking the tunnel unchecked.
Just after 7 p.m., gunfire broke out outside Lou Malnati’s, a popular pizza spot that draws tourists to River North.
Two men got into a fight on the sidewalk. One pulled a gun and shot the other in the arm. Bleeding, the victim stumbled into the restaurant where staff and customers tried to stop the bleeding until EMS arrived.
The shooter fled eastbound on an e-bike wearing a camouflage hoodie and red backpack. As of this writing, he remains at large. Shell casings and blood were left on the pavement just feet from the dinner crowd.
This was prime tourist turf—nobody was spared.
Earlier in the afternoon, a 26-year-old woman was shot in the leg while walking on South Kedzie. Then at 4300 West Dickens, a 34-year-old man was hit in the leg by gunfire near an alley. A responding officer applied a tourniquet to stop the bleeding. He was transported to Mount Sinai in good condition.
In both cases, no suspects were arrested.
At 6125 South Prairie, an elderly woman was robbed in an alley. The suspect had been hiding in the bushes. He took all her belongings and fled on a bicycle. Just blocks away, at 539 East 46th Place, a 1-year-old child was reportedly taken from a front porch. That same hour, on Lake Shore Drive, a case of road rage escalated when one driver threw a brick at another’s car window.
At 9:15 p.m., the once-iconic Rock and Roll McDonald’s sat almost completely empty, with what looked like more workers than customers.
On a Friday night, tourists were hard to find. Just loiterers, drug users, and mentally ill trespassers scattered across the property. The smell of weed clung to the sidewalk. The space didn’t feel commercial anymore—it felt surrendered.

It’s weed everywhere.
There are mentally ill people, there’s drug dealers, vagrants, and criminals right here on the property … not one of them was eating anything McDonald’s.
That’s what destroyed this business.
It didn’t happen because the food got worse. It happened because the city stopped enforcing anything.
The people outside weren’t customers—they were trespassers. Not one came for a burger. They came to loiter, get high, and take over.
As one longtime resident wrote, “I remember a time when you had to wait for a table at the OG RnR McD’s.”
On the same day the mayor said things were improving, two of Chicago’s most visible businesses—Lou Malnati’s, where a man was shot in broad daylight, and Rock and Roll McDonald’s, left abandoned and overrun—stood as proof that they’re not.
By sunset, more than a dozen major crimes had unfolded in the open. No resolution. No relief.
The same city that vetoed a curfew measure claiming “crime is going down” witnessed shootings in every quadrant—including River North, where tourism dollars are supposed to be sacred.
So far in 2025, thirteen people have been shot in the Near North Side—up from eleven at this point last year. Seven of those shootings happened in River North alone.
This isn’t a recovery. It’s a controlled demolition.

In the 400 block of N. Wells at approximately 7:05 p.m., a 36-year-old male victim was on the sidewalk and involved in a physical altercation with an unknown male offender. The offender produced a firearm and fired shots at the victim, striking him in the left arm.
the victim has a GSW to the forearm, they say it looks like 2 guys were fighting, one pulled out a gun.
the crime scene is on the sidewalk, it consists of shell casings and blood.
The vicitm was transported to Northwestern Hospital in good condition. No one is in custody. Area Three Detectives are investigating.
Under a new order, CFD responding to all residential fires at buildings under 7 stories are to approach the art of fighting fires in the most risk-averse way.
This new order places restrictions under which CFD can enter a burning building.
In sum, the new guidelines state CFD must observe a victim inside or have confirmation from an OEMC dispatcher or on-scene witness a victim remains inside a burning structure before entering the building.
This new policy means CFD, who under ordinary circumstances would have likely entered the burning structure to aggressively battle the fire and search for occupants of the home, are now essentially spectators to structures burning to the ground.
This is what CFD now refers to as “Defensive Operations.”
In other words, if you are trapped in a fire in Chicago and you are not visible to CFD, you’ll have to fend for yourself.
The video attached captures a blaze on the NW Side of Chicago today.
This fire is believed to have started on a back porch, but there was no report of residents trapped in the home.
Note the number of CFD watching the inferno from the street.
This new guideline is motivated by the City of Chicago’s desire to reduce the number of injuries or duty-deaths sustained by CFD.
Bad policy, while no one wishes CFD to suffer grievous injury or death, there are hazards to the profession firefighters willingly accept when they are inducted into CFD. Like CPD, the firefighting profession requires men and women willing to put themselves in peril.
This new policy will reduce risk to CFD but increase the risk to citizens in burning buildings.
Aside from the risk to civilians, this new policy exposes Chicago to extraordinary liability. The cost in court is immeasurable. The City Council must address this. This new policy places our family members, neighbors and residents are now at greater risk and it is turning CFD into curious onlookers as buildings burn.

More Taxes in Illinois Residents Future !!!
More taxes! Residents of Illinois could soon be charged a “commuter transportation mobility tax“ to pay for Chicago’s public transportation system.
As the city of Chicago looks to capture an additional $1.5 billion in revenue for their public transit system, a new statewide tax is being considered by Democrats.
[Q: are you willing to pay this new tax to fund the Chicago transportation system?]
After the $1.50 per delivery (Amazon/doordash) delivery tax did not make it through the Illinois House of Representatives in time to become Law this past May, Chicago politicians are looking for more ways to tax Illinois residents to fund Chicago’s mismanaged public transportation system.
(Note: The $1.50 per delivery tax, unfortunately is not dead, Springfield democrat politicians plan to bring this back up for consideration in the summer and fall, so you still could be paying that $1.50 per delivery charge pushed by Pritzker and Illinois Democrats)
The new commuter transportation mobility tax is charged to certain employers and self-employed individuals engaging in business in the state of Illinois.
This would not only affect established employers, but also those who are self-employed, gig workers, etc.… 
The RTA board met earlier this month to discuss funding scenarios. Currently Chicago public transportation is $771 billion in the hole, but they’re looking to increase taxes by $1.5 billion total.
