Another Migrant Sneak Move this Time for the DNC
Following the recent city council passage of $70 Million for migrant support and the approval of a $1.4 Billion bond fund, the Mayor is gearing up to revitalize downtown Chicago in preparation for the influx of tens of thousands expected for the DNC.
The city strategy involves relocating migrants, primarily military-age men, from downtown, where there have been multiple reports of criminal activity by the Standard Club Migrant shelter near Van Buren & Plymouth, to a new location at 3951 South Canal Street in the Bridgeport Canaryville neighborhoods.
The Neighborhood Journal reports that social media is ablaze with outrage over the plan. Speculation is rife that the Armour Square, Bridgeport, and Canaryville communities may unite similarly to how the Brighton Park and McKinley Park Neighborhoods did to thwart the construction of a migrant camp in Brighton Park despite the city’s $30 million investment.
Some are advocating for the relocation of the migrants to the northern suburbs like Glencoe or Wilmette, where more significant resources and space are available.
The Mayor did the same sneak lying when he moved the migrants out of the first district police station for Lollapalooza, saying it was not because of the event; yet soon after Lolla was over, the migrants streamed back into the police station on State Street.
Unlike the 12th Ward, where the Alderwoman is a paid agent of the Chicago Teachers Union who went against her constituents on multiple occasions supporting the toxic migrant camp in Brighton Park, even calling Chinese migrants opposed to the plan rightwing extremists.
Brighton Park residents put enough pressure by organizing and legally that Governor Pritzker stopped the plan.
Alderwoman Lee of the 11th Ward is opposed to the plan …
Ald. Lee met with Mayor Johnson about these plans and outlined in no uncertain terms that she is fully and unequivocally opposed to standing up this shelter at this location.
If the migrants are a great resource, as Biden, Pritzker, and BJ say, then why not leave them downtown … HiHo
