For those that live in the Leyden Fire Protection District it is very important that you come out and vote in the March 20, 2018, primary.   Not only should you vote but make sure you vote “YES” for the Leyden Fire Protection District’s Referendum for the purpose of purchasing a new ladder truck and new ambulance.  

The Leyden Fire Protection District serves a population of 18,000 in 4.5 square miles, with 13 full time firefighters and is  effectively and efficiently  lead by Chief Kory Ryan;  who have and continue to responsibly utilize taxpayer funds to provide the highest level of public safety for the residents of the Leyden Fire Protection District.  

Why?

The primary response fire apparatus is over 18 years old having been put into service in 2000.    Since its purchase it has responded to thousands of fire and emergency response rescues and now sees the wear and tear of successive years of emergency operations.  The ambulance was purchased in 2013 and has over 80,000 miles on the vehicle.

It is imperative that the voters authorize the replacement of this aging equipment. This older equipment is becoming a maintenance concern for the Leyden Fire Protection District and this aging  will ultimately jeopardize the successful and effective  delivery of emergency services  to the community.

The fire apparatus was shiny and new at the time of their purchase in 2000 and 2013, but are now old and tired after their everyday usage in the District saving lives and protecting property.

Vote “YES” for the Leyden Fire Protection District’s Referendum for the purpose of purchasing a new ladder truck and new ambulance to ensure the future successful delivery of services by District personnel to protect lives and property of those residents and businesses in the District.
