Retail Delivery Climate Impact Fee Act

Illinois $1.50 delivery tax update – It’s now being called the “Retail Delivery Climate Impact Fee Act”

[Q: Are you willing to pay an extras $1.50 on every delivery in the state of Illinois to help out our friends in Chicago?]

The tax will be reconsidered by Democrats in the upcoming October 2025 veto session of the Illinois General Assembly.

Background: Back in May, Illinois Democrats proposed a $1.50 tax on every kind of delivery (Amazon, UPS, DoorDash, USPS)….any package that is delivered to your door. The bill was favored only by Illinois Democrats and was opposed by all Republicans

Money generated would go to City of Chicago mass transit.
