Early this morning I reached out to Lincoln Middle School to see who had taken some good pictures I could share from the championship game our Lincoln girls won last night.  Immediately, the proud coaches sent not only pictures, but a video of the team singing during Lincoln’s morning announcements, the tournament brackets, and a blurb about their amazing season!  Coaches Arielle Ogorek and Corinne Hillertz, the players, the fans, Ms. Stav and Mr. Amsler could not be more excited!  I will share Coach Ogorek’s blurb with you here, because I couldn’t have said it better myself! Congratulations to both the Varsity and Junior Varsity teams!

“The Lincoln Girls’ basketball team finally got what they deserved last night, a first place trophy and a championship game they will never forget! With a conference record of 9-1 for our junior varsity, and a conference record of 8-2 for our Varsity, the…

District 81 Students Named Citizens of the Year!

kboryszewski's avatarDistrict 81 Superintendent

This afternoon I had the pleasure of attending an awards ceremony at West Leyden High School hosted by West 40 in honor of students named “School Citizen of the Year.” I am proud to announce that three District 81 students were recipients of the award!  Congratulations to Citlaly E., Nicole G., and Kamila O.!  The West 40 Regional Director introduced and honored each child as they received their award and spoke about the many ways they have positively impacted their school community.  These students exemplify what it means to be a good citizen, and are all positive role models for the students at Kennedy, Washington, and Lincoln Middle School.  Congratulations to Citlaly, Nicole, Kamila and their families! Thanks for making us so proud!

Congratulations Leyden High School!!

kboryszewski's avatarDistrict 81 Superintendent

The National College Board honored Leyden High School this morning with the distinguished recognition of the 2013 Advanced Placement National District of the Year. It was exciting to see so many former School District 81 students being during the event.

Superintendent Nick Polyak graciously thanked many who helped Leyden achieve this distinction including the partner districts for the experiences students are provided before they arrive at Leyden High School. I spoke with many Leyden Board of Education members and administrators, and their pride for their students and educators is an inspiration.

I was thrilled to attend the event and I extend my sincere congratulations to the Leyden students and educators who worked very hard to achieve this stellar honor.
