Illinois lawmakers told us taxpayers in 2017 that if we gave billions more to k-12 schools, our kids would be able to read and do math at grade level.

They called it Evidence Based Funding or EBF. Give districts 100% of the money they “need” and they’d show us the results.

It’s been a big failure. Years later and billions more spent, and yet our kids still can’t read. Check out the below table. Many schools have reached and exceeded 100%, and yet they continue to fail children.

Now Illinois lawmakers want the same failed EBF idea for Illinois universities. Illinoisans should understand that the only thing it will do is raise taxes, with nothing to show for it.
